Equipping 09/20/2010

Paul tells the church in Ephesus that the Lord "gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers" the role "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes."(Ephesians 4:11-14 ESV)

The Greek word for "equip" or “equipping” is katartismos (#2677), and it means “a process of adjustment that results in a complete preparedness” (Friberg Lexicon). Various Greek lexicons define it as equipping, preparing, training, or perfecting.

RiverChurches elders have sensed the Lord leading those who are gifted as an apostle, prophet, evangelist, shepherd, and teacher to train and prepare other believers/saints for the work of ministry and building up the body of Christ.

There will be an equipping time on Saturday, September 25th from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the River Center in New Castle. Then each week starting in October will be a training/equipping time for believers on Sunday evenings (5:00 - 8:00 pm).  Please email lprice@sopris.net if you have questions or would like to participate in the equipping of the saints.
